Alkalizing Detox salad

As the warm weather descends, I don’t feel like heating up the kitchen with the oven or stove and find that cold refreshing salads and grilled foods more to my liking. This alkalizing detox salad is one of my favorite sides, not only because it is delicious but most importantly because the powerful health benefits. The main components are radishes, cucumbers and ume plum vinegar, which results in a refreshing salad with savory, umame, and sour notes.

  • 2 cups cucumber spiralized
  • 1 cup radishes thinly sliced
  • 1 Tablespoon ume plum vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds optional for garnish
  • 1 cup broccoli sprouts optional for garnish


  1. In a small mixing bowl add spiralized cucumber (drained of excess water) and radishes

  2. Mix together and add ume plum vinegar and sesame oil
  3. Mix gently and refrigerate for 20 minutes or more so that the flavors can develop

  4. Taste as you might need more ume plum vinegar or sesame oil depending on your personal taste preferences
  5. Garnish with sesame seeds and/or broccoli sprouts (optional)
